Mad Bodgin’ Mage (Amiibo Smash) Log: The Trifource

For this bodge log I will be going over the process of making a Triforce that also functions as multiple amiibos.

I thought it would be a cool concept having each piece containing the NFC chip of their chosen holder.

and Farore, the Goddess of Courage for Link

The design that I went for was a tetrahedron (a d4 or 4-sided die) so that the completed product would be nice and compact. I made a quick mock model to test that it would work. This design also meant I had space to add another chip as there would be a fourth side available. Shiek & Toon Link were the candidates. I went with Toon Link as I needed Sheik for a future project and she’s harder to come by where I am at the moment.

Next I had to extract the NFC chips. This had it’s ups and downs. Ganon was the easiest – he popped off and had no problems. Zelda had such an excess of glue that I was afraid I actually damaged the chip during the extraction. Link’s base…didn’t survive the process

With that done I was able to take proper measurements of the chips and make a proper paper d4 to place them in and test:

With the scans confirmed I was able to cut plasticard to cover the paper D4 with:

Once I confirmed the shapes fit together, I took them apart to begin painting. If I had the tools, I would have liked to bevel the cuts to make everything fit neater.
Here’s the painted bits before they went together:

and after that the proper assembly:
