Mad Bodgin’ Mage Log: Behemoth, Big Game Hunter

For this log I’m going to go over the process of taking the 2016 resculpt of the the Behemoth:
large-33121_behemoth2016
and make Khador’s grisly equivalent of the Malcontents’ Stormclad aptly named “Headhunter”.

This guy HATES warbeasts and lets everyone know.

The original intent of this project was make the new Behemoth not look puny next to the Supremoth.

This was not the case.

At all.

So we went for some character instead.

Before we start, here’s some comparison shots of old vs new:

Now on with the bodge!

Started with a double layer of cork for a base to give them some height:

Next up was adding some spacers(each one about 1/8″) to give them a wider stance:

Next I set about extending the arms:

By carving a new space for the arms to fit in the socket

Forearms got extended as well by removing the pieces that fit the model together and adding more spacers:

For the shoulders I needed to place two spacers on top of each other to make room for the now extended arms:

and fill in the gap with a wider spacer and putty.
It was at this time I added “punching spikes” to the fists as well.

Wish I had spare Mad Dog arms to use in this project.

So at this point the body was done and ultimately was only a little bigger. So I tried to make the head unique, starting with a berserker head:
img_20160905_215144
and adding the anvil(and patching up the body more with putty:

It needed something else, so digging around the workshop I found this:

The top half of a Carnivian head.
I asked for some input and the reception was positive.

So there was a few ways to go about this:
1. This is actually a heavily armoured Dire Troll (or something similar)
2. This is an augmented/cyborg warbeast similar to what the Farrow have done.
3. This Warjack chooses to wear pieces of warbeasts it destroys as prizes to strike fear in it’s foes (or it jus likes to accessorize, whichever)

Number 3 was must easier to believe since we have a canon instance of it happening already.

That and I also had bits appropriate for the idea 😀

Namely the heads of a Dire troll

a Warpwolf

And the tusks of a Titan

Roped up the heads to the smokestacks and added some Pikeman capes to keep make it similar to most of my other character jacks.

Then it was time for painting…soooo many rivets.

Here is more pictures of the final result:
