Mad Bodgin’ Mage Log: Road to Ruin

Finally we come to this guy:

This one was an odd one for me. I looked forward to it for a long time, but had absolutely no plan for it. When I opened up the box, I found that the stock pose was good, and it fit together so well that it would be a shame to ruin the puzzle pieces. The detail is pretty sweet as well. So it sat while I pondered what to do with it.

In the end I decided to do to them as I did to others and bulk him up. It will still be a runt next to Karchev and the Extremoth, but will seem to have more girth than most, and will be bigger than the Grolar once I get my hands on them, ideally.

…Unless I accidentally make them bigger too.

Hmm.

Anyway, to start this build I cut 2 pieces of 1/16″ plasticard to serve as spacers between the legs and hips:

I then packed the area with a little greenstuff, and the guy was granted a slightly wider stance. A similar procedure was done to the place where the torso joins the hips, and where the arms fit into the sockets.

The ‘Jack gets a little more height too.

I made a minor change to the mace because assembling it was more annoying than reasonable.

I ended up forcing the prongs apart by wedging a blade between them, then grinding the other bits to match. The result was a mace with a larger head.

With the the changes I made to the body, the pelt was not going to work as originally intended. So… because both my Beast09 & Drago have them, Ruin was gunna get a butt-flap as well:

In the end the wolf head got to stay, too.

Next up was adding his head, and some additional puttywork. One of the Deathjack’s pointy bits didn’t make it into the rebuild, so I found a home for it here:

Then it was prime time:

It sat for about a month afterward.

The paintjob this guy got ended up matching Zerkova’s more than Zoktavir’s.

Here’s how it turned out:
